Hello everyone, Cecilia from @cecilia.doing.art here! I'm a letterer, calligrapher and illustrator from Italy. I started this journey in 2017 with no expectations and now I'm turning it into a profession! In my spare time I love to play video games, listen to music and read.
Today I'll show you how to create this simple but effective holiday greeting card, let's get started!
You will need:
Watercolor A5 card folded in two
Gold metallic watercolor
Red, light green, dark green watercolor
Watercolor brush n. 2
Black fine liner
Grey brush pen
Let's deal with the page layout. Trace the letters with the pencil and try to center the page.
Add thickness to the letter's skeleton. Check how it looks? Are the letters identical in size and thickness? Make any adjustments until the letters look how you want them to.
Add movement. Replace some straight bar with wavy ones.
Fill the letters with the metallic gold watercolor and wait for it to be completely dry.
Paint some greenery in the corners to add a splash of color and make it more attractive and cheerful.
Outline the letters using the black fine liner and add some shadows with the grey brush pen; your letters will pop out the page!
Lastly, draw a thin frame around your lettering. Seems nothing but it will transform the card!
And that's it! It was not that hard, huh?
I really hope you had fun with this tutorial, I will be so happy to watch your results! Tag me or DMs me on Instagram (@cecilia.doing.art) if you try and you can also take a look at my feed to see the video process for this card.
Have a merry Christmas you all!
